Pan-African Infectiology Colloquium n

With the triple aim of helping the African continent to fight against infectious diseases, improving international public awareness and enabling young African research scientists to meet and communicate, the Institut Pasteur and the French Science Academy plan to organise a Pan-African Infectiology Colloquium which is open to young scientists and answers their specific needs.

Transfer of knowledge working group n

Among WAYS objectives, we should promote education in science to increase the understanding of science by the general public, facilitate the access to careers in science for young scientists and encourage international mobility, and facilitate the emergence and sharing of scientific knowledge to reduce the gap between developed and less developed countries. Our transfer of knowledge working group will play an active role in the coordination of this WAYS project. If you are interested in contributing to this activity, please join our mailing list.

UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowship n

UNESCO has invited young post-graduate researchers in developing countries with a Master's degree (or equivalent) to apply for fellowships, each worth a maximum of US$6,000 to US$10,000, through the UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowship Programme. Application is open for researchers active in one of four fields: environment, inter-cultural dialogue, information and communication technology, and peaceful conflict resolution. This is the sixth year running that Japan has awarded these grants.

EURYI – the European Young Investigator Award n

About to enter its third year, EURYI – the European Young Investigator Award scheme . is designed to attract outstanding young scientists from any country in the world to create their own research teams at European research centres. Most awards are between .1,000,000 and .1,250,000 and comparable in size to the Nobel Prize. Application deadline: 30 November, 2005

World Summit Youth Award n

The World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) is an international competition for youth-led projects, which aim at bridging the content gap in the emerging Information Society. The initiative promotes best practice in e-content and technological creativity, and demonstrates the potential of young people to create digital opportunities. WSYA is not only a showcase for young designers, technologists and e-content creators, but it seeks to contribute to sharing knowledge, protecting the environment, reducing poverty and empowering marginalized young people. The WSYA is jointly organised by the World Summit Award (WSA) and the Youth Caucus of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

ESOF2006 Career Programme n

ESOF2006 is the 2nd EuroScience Open Forum that will take place 15 to 19 July 2006 in Munich, Germany. One important aspect of the forum is to address the specific problems and needs of young scientists. Therefore, ESOF2006 launches a call for proposals to organise a Career Programme for young researchers including some specific workshops.
