Pan-African Infectiology Colloqium n

Call for participation from young scientists

In order to reinforce the fight against infectious diseases it is essential to improve communication and distribution of scientific data and expression, and to foster vocations in infectiology research and training. Besides the various forms of material aid that international scientific and humanitarian organisations are liable to offer, training individuals and acquiring capacities are prime factors in the long run.

With the triple aim of helping the African continent to fight against infectious diseases, improving international public awareness and enabling young African research scientists to meet and communicate, the Institut Pasteur and the French Science Academy plan to organise a colloquium which is open to young scientists and answers their specific needs.

Based on interactive workshops, this colloquium intends to encourage health training for young scientists, doctors and technical assistants, to identify best practices, to assist local research, but also to foster exchanges between young scientists from different African countries, both English- and French-speaking, and to work on problems which may arise in the field (language, scientifc coordination.).

Within this framework, and through the WAYS network, the Institut Pasteur and the French Science Academy wish to call for the participation of young scientists and to encourage them to define and develop themes and workshops in accordance with their experience and priorities.

Whether they are connected with fundamental problems raised by infectious diseases (prevention, public health), with cooperation between English- and French-speaking research scientists, with public health education programmes (hygiene, food), or with links between science and society, your ideas and workshop suggestions will be very welcome on the WAYS regional forum : Africa_WAYS.
